DAY 3 : John 14-16

Jesus talks about the Holy Spirit in John 14-16 very specifically. What do we know about Him?

He is sent from the Father in response to Jesus’s request: John 14:16, 14:26, 15:26, 16:7

He’s called the Counselor: John 14:16, 14:26, 15:26

He will be with us forever: John 14:16

The world does not “get” the Holy Spirit: John 14:17

Followers of Jesus know Him, for He lives with them and within them: John 14:17

He will teach followers of Jesus all things and bring to memory what Jesus said: John 14:26, 15:26

He’s called the Spirit of Truth: John 14:17, 15:26, John 16:13; He guides followers into all truth: 16:13.

He exposes the guilt of the world in regard to sin, righteousness, and judgment: John 16:8-11

He speaks what He hears from the Father: John 16:13

He tells you what is to come: John 16:13

He will bring glory to Jesus by granting to us what is from Jesus and the Father: John 16:14,15

Need a good counselor? He’s here for you. Need the stability of a “forever love”? He’s got you. Need Truth? He’ll tell it to you. Need a verse to come to mind or straighten you out? That’s His job.

REFLECTION :

Morning Pause: Pause before you begin your day and ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes to His Truth, capital T, today.

Afternoon Pause: Ask the Spirit to counsel you through the afternoon, to give you insight, to help you understand people, to help you perceive God, and to encourage you. Whether you are on the run or still, ask Him to counsel you in the moment.

Evening Pause: Reflect back on your day, asking the Holy Spirit to come to you through one of these questions: Was anyone or anything too important? When was I bound up and tight vs. relaxed and attentive to You? What is God shaking up, and what is He settling down? Journal what counsel the Spirit gives you, and rest.
