Abbey Advent: Faithfulness (Introduction)

Faithfulness

Faithfulness is having the guts to show up when you’re scared to death.

Faithfulness is following through, even when you can only see enough light for the step in front of you.

Faithfulness is choosing God even when no one else understands what you’re doing.

Faithfulness is waiting … waiting even decades! … then tumbling over with joy when everything comes together.

Faithfulness is counting the cost of following and celebrating God, and deciding that not only is God worth it, but He’s worth EVERYTHING. Step up and step in? Nothing could hold you back.

Faithfulness like this is written all over this story: in Mary, in Joseph, in Elizabeth & her husband Zechariah, in Anna and Simeon, and in the Wise Men. Their individual faithfulnesses are like the facets of a diamond: brought together, they make the story of Scripture sparkle with love, truth, and invitation. Let’s explore their pictures of faithfulness together, starting with a humble posture, asking God to deepen our own faithfulness to Him.
